Nascetta is a lesser known white grape from Piemonte, it's often used for sweet wines, but its beautiful aromatic complexity and longevity make it ideal for a dry white wine.
Originating in the Barolo municipality of Novello--thanks to the efforts of some local winemakers in the 1990s--Nascetta, Anascetta, or Anas-Cetta as it is also called, has regained its place in the extensive range of Langhe grape varieties.
After the hand-harvest in late September/early October, the juice is left to rest on the skins for a few days and then gently pressed. Fermentation then occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Aging also takes place in stainless steel tanks, and after a short bottle ageing, the Diego Conterno 2023 Langhe Nascetta is released.
The result is a deliciously exciting, racy, yet delicate and long-lasting white wine that fully expresses the characteristics of its native landscape. The color is a brilliant, bright yellow. The savory and mineral flavors on the palate are accompanied by notes of citrus, pineapple, sage, and rosemary. This white wine has a firm structure yet is balanced and silky. It has substance and depth without being heavy. A captivating white wine that offers complexity, freshness, and longevity!
