Moussamoussettes '25
Grolleau, Cab Franc, Pineau d'Aunis | Loire Valley, France
- Notes
Famille Mosse is one of the great names in natural Anjou — a biodynamic domaine run by René and Agnès Mosse in the heart of the Loire Valley, producing wines from their estate varieties that have become touchstones for the natural wine movement worldwide. Moussamoussettes is their pétillant naturel rosé: a lightly sparkling wine made by the méthode ancestrale, bottled before fermentation is complete so that the wine finishes in bottle, trapping a gentle natural fizz without any addition of sugar or yeast.
The blend is a classic Anjou trinity: Grolleau Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Pineau d'Aunis — three indigenous Loire varieties that each bring something distinct to the glass. Grolleau is the backbone of Anjou rosé, contributing fresh red fruit, lively acidity, and a light, juicy character that makes it the natural home of pét nat in the region. Cabernet Franc adds structure, depth, and a signature herbal and violet quality. Pineau d'Aunis — one of the Loire's most idiosyncratic and beloved grapes — brings spice, pepper, and an aromatic wildness that lifts the whole. Together, from biodynamically farmed Anjou fruit, they produce a rosé pét nat of irresistible freshness and charm.
