Liquore Chinotto

Chinotto is one of Italy's most distinctive and least understood flavours — a small, intensely bitter citrus fruit (Citrus myrtifolia) that has been cultivated in Liguria and Piedmont for centuries and forms the backbone of some of Italy's most beloved bitter drinks and liqueurs. Antica Distilleria Quaglia, based in Asti in the heart of Piedmont, has been making spirits and liqueurs since 1890, and their Liquore Chinotto is one of the finest expressions of this tradition: a deeply aromatic, bittersweet liqueur that captures the fruit's complex character with precision and elegance.

The flavour is unlike anything else — intensely bitter, with notes of dark orange peel, aromatic herbs, and a lingering, almost medicinal depth that is completely addictive once you've acquired the taste. 

Serve it over ice as a digestivo, use it to build a Negroni variation in place of Campari, add a splash to sparkling water for a sophisticated long drink, or drizzle it over vanilla gelato. It's also exceptional in cocktails that call for a bitter, citrus-forward element. A bottle worth having.
