Flickering Through My Naked Thoughts '23

Grenache, Cinsault | Ardèche, France

$86.00

Anders Frederik Steen is a Danish winemaker who left a career in Copenhagen's restaurant world to make wine in the Ardèche — the wild, rugged gorge country of southern France where the land is cheap, the soils are ancient, and the natural wine movement has found some of its most committed practitioners. Together with Anne Bruun Blauert, he farms a patchwork of small parcels with radical minimalism: no inputs, no additions, no removals, just grapes and time. The wines are named with the kind of poetic, stream-of-consciousness titles that reflect the spirit of the project.

Flickering Through My Naked Thoughts is a light red made from Grenache and Cinsault — two southern French varieties that, in the right hands and at low extraction, produce some of the most joyful, drinkable, and genuinely interesting reds in the natural wine world. Expect bright red fruit, wild herbs, a floral lift, and a silky, almost weightless texture that makes it irresistible to drink. Open this with some aged goat's cheese & a few slices of lonza. Serve cool.
