A Laranja Mecânica — A Clockwork Orange — is Fita Preta's field-blend white from the Alentejano: a wine that earns its provocative name through sheer complexity and a refusal to be categorised. Fita Preta is one of Portugal's most respected natural producers, farming organically and biodynamically in the sun-drenched plains of the Alentejo, and this is their most ambitious white — a co-fermented blend of seven indigenous varieties including Arinto, Roupeiro, Verdelho, Antão Vaz, Boal de Alicante, Trincádeira das Pratas, and Fernão Pires.

The result is an orange wine of genuine depth and intrigue: textured and aromatic, with layers of stone fruit, citrus peel, wild herbs, and a saline, mineral finish that lingers. It's balanced and food-friendly without being light — the kind of wine that rewards attention and improves with every sip. Pair it with grilled fish, roasted vegetables, aged sheep's milk cheese, or anything from the Iberian pantry. Serve slightly cool.
