Pineau d'Aunis, Muscat à Petits Grains | Loire Valley, France
- Notes
Famille Mosse is one of the defining estates of natural Anjou — a biodynamic domaine run by René and Agnès Mosse in the Loire Valley, whose wines have become touchstones for anyone serious about natural wine. Combo is something a little different from the rest of the range: a cross-regional blend that pairs Pineau d'Aunis from close to the Mosse vineyards in Anjou with Muscat à Petits Grains from 15-year-old vines grown on limestone clay in Roussillon — two grapes, two regions, one genuinely unusual and compelling wine.
Pineau d'Aunis is one of the Loire's most characterful indigenous varieties — spicy, peppery, and aromatic, producing reds and rosés of real personality and freshness. Muscat à Petits Grains, in Roussillon, brings floral intensity, stone fruit, and the bright acidity of a grape grown on limestone clay in a warm, sun-drenched climate. Together they produce something that sits beautifully between a light red and a dark rosé: deeply aromatic, fresh, and alive, with a complexity that comes from the tension between the two grapes and their very different origins.
