Cuvée Marguerite '24
Muscat d’Alexandrie, Muscat Petit Grain & Grenache Blanc | Côtes Catalanes, Roussillon
- Notes
Domaine Matassa is the project of Tom Lubbe — a South African-born winemaker who found his home in the wild, sun-scorched hills of the Roussillon and has spent decades making some of the most distinctive and celebrated natural wines in France. Cuvée Marguerite is his skin-contact white: a co-fermentation of Muscat d’Alexandrie, Muscat Petit Grain, and Grenache Blanc from vines with 50 years of age, whole-cluster macerated and fermented in concrete with 10 days on skins, then aged for 5 months in Austrian foudre.
The result is something genuinely beautiful: light-bodied and luminous, with the aromatic intensity that only old-vine Muscat can deliver — tropical fruit, lychee, white flowers, mango, and citrus — lifted by fine tannins from the skin contact and a vibrant, refreshing acidity that keeps everything in perfect balance. At just 10% ABV, it is elegant, aromatic, and surprisingly easy to drink. A Mediterranean flower meadow in a glass.
