Calypso Chateauneuf Du Pape '23

Domaine Les Aricoques — the Savoie project of Romain and Guillaume — has built its reputation on a deep curiosity about what great French terroir can produce when farmed and vinified with care and without compromise. Calypso is their Châteauneuf-du-Pape: a négoce cuvée that brings the same low-intervention philosophy that defines everything they do to one of the most celebrated and complex appellations in the southern Rhône.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of France's great red appellations — a sun-drenched plateau north of Avignon carpeted with the famous large, round galets roulés stones that retain heat and reflect it back onto the vines, producing wines of extraordinary richness, depth, and complexity. The 2023 vintage in the southern Rhône was outstanding: warm and generous, producing concentrated, expressive wines with excellent structure and balance. Grenache is the dominant variety here, as it is across the appellation — silky, rich, and expansive, with the characteristic notes of dark cherry, garrigue, dried herbs, leather, and spice that define great Châteauneuf.
