My car once broke down in Oromocto, NB while making the long drive from Good Cheese HQ to Souris, PEI. While stopped overnight in the Days Inn there was luckily a bottle of Denavolo’s Catavela in the trunk. After 13 hours behind the wheel of a Kia Rio, it was the most delicious wine we could ever imagine.
Luckily it is equally delicious in other situations. This is a new Emilia-Romagne project by the former winemaker of La Stoppa. who make the Good Cheese glou-glou staple wine “Lezer”. The wine is fun and slightly funky in an approachable way. Zesty, mineral-driven, a touch of funkiness, orange juice, refreshing acidity and most importantly delicious.
Organic and biodynamic farming, 6-10 days on skins for this blend of Malvasia, Marsanne, Sauvignon Blanc and some local varieties they don’t even know the names of (?!).
