Les Mouettes d’Arvor has been hand-packing fish in Concarneau, Brittany since 1921 — and this Muscadet preparation is a masterclass in the understated elegance of French conservas. Atlantic mackerel fillets are marinated in Muscadet, the crisp, mineral white wine of the Loire Valley, with a bouquet of herbs and aromatics that lift and brighten the natural richness of the fish.
The result is light, clean, and beautifully balanced — the bold, oily character of mackerel softened by the acidity of the wine marinade, with a gentle herbal complexity from lemon, onion, carrot, and a whisper of chilli. Delicate enough for the most refined palate, as the cannery itself puts it, and versatile enough for almost any occasion.
