Bandol's Grand Vin — Built to Age
If Bandol rosé is the appellation's calling card, the rouge is its soul. Château Pradeaux's Bandol Rouge is one of the most age-worthy wines produced anywhere in France — a Mourvèdre-dominant red that demands patience and rewards it generously.
The 2020 vintage arrives with a deep garnet core and a nose of remarkable complexity: black olive, dried fig, leather, wild thyme, and iron-rich earth. On the palate, it is structured and serious — dense, chewy tannins, concentrated dark fruit, and a finish that stretches on for minutes. This is a wine still in its youth; decant for at least two hours now, or cellar for another 5–10 years to witness its full transformation.
Pradeaux ages their rouge in large old foudres for a minimum of 18 months, preserving the raw power of Mourvèdre while allowing it to slowly integrate. The result is a wine of rare authenticity and terroir expression.
