Originally created in 1984 by the Baars company to compete with Swiss Emmental, Maasdam has become a distinct style all its own. It's a little bit sweeter and soften than Emmental and makes for a great all around cheese for your pantry. It works wondeful on sandwiches, on a platter or melted.
