Alongside Palomino and Moscatel, there are two grapes we've never heard of- Albarín & Albillo. It's always fun to try new grapes! It's even from a rarer spot of Spain, in Asturias (just east of Galicia / Rias Baixas).
Like it's neighbours in Rias Baixas, this is a delicate and salty white with notes of apple and pear. It was great complexity and soaring acidity. Great tension. This has a nice broad texture from being aged on its lees for 6-8 months in used French oak barrels.
The winemaker, Francisco Asencio, also makes sherry and is a real genius with his Palomino of all kinds.
