Edoardo Valentini was one of the most singular figures in the history of Italian wine — a farmer-philosopher who rejected the modern world entirely, farmed his Montepulciano d'Abruzzo vines with obsessive rigour, and released wines only in the years he deemed worthy. His son Francesco Paolo continues that uncompromising tradition today, and the wines remain among the most sought-after and age-worthy in all of Italy.

Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is Valentini's rosé — and calling it a rosé almost undersells it. Made from Montepulciano grapes with brief skin contact, it has the colour of a deep cherry, the structure of a serious red, and the freshness and tension of something altogether more electric. This is not a wine for poolside sipping. This is a wine for the table, for food, for conversation, and for paying attention.
