13th Street Gamay Vin Gris '24

13th Street Winery has been one of Niagara Peninsula's most reliable voices for Gamay, and the Vin Gris is where that grape gets to show its most playful, sun-drenched side. Made in the vin gris style — minimal skin contact to preserve freshness and lift — this VQA rosé is pale pink in the glass and immediately expressive on the nose, with wild strawberry, red raspberry, white peach, and a delicate white cherry blossom note that gives it an almost perfumed quality.

The palate is where it really comes alive. Mouth-watering acidity drives flavours of red grapefruit, guava, and basil sorbet — bright, a little unexpected, and completely refreshing — while a streak of chalky minerality runs through to a long, clean finish. It's a wine that earns its place at the table: equally at home with goat and sheep cheeses, a charcuterie spread, fresh asparagus and burrata, or anything with a little heat and citrus, like fish tacos or spicy Mexican.
