Grape(s): Garnacha Tintorera, Moravia Agria
Garnacha Tintorera, also known as Alicante Bouschet, is the primary grape in Albahra. It is a hybrid of the Garnacha and Petit Bouschet grapes. It is one of the few red grapes with dark coloured flesh, hence the name Tintorera, or
“tinted.” The remaining Moravia provides gorgeous lift and acidity.
Fermented and aged in concrete, the 30 year old vines impart a dark colour. Earthy fresh, blackberry, cherry and dusty-plum fruits mingle with peppery spice, anise and hints of minerality.
